This 1836 plan of the city of Baltimore by Lucas Fielding, Jr. is a beautiful depiction of the layout of the largest city in Maryland. Interestingly, the notes on the map articulate that the city features 10 avenues, 375 streets, 24 lanes, and 152 alleys - all divided by Baltimore Street to the North and South and Calvert Street to the East and West.
