This bird's eye, panoramic view of the city of Atlanta shows a great representation of the city in 1871, just 3 years after becoming the capital of the state of Georgia. The map shows a historical reference guide pointing out important city sties such as train depots, churches and City Hall. The cartographer of this map, Albert Ruger was the first American to gain notoriety for this type of visualization of cities.
