Africa - Royal Society at London & Paris, 1725
Africa - Royal Society at London & Paris, 1725
This unique 1725 map by English publisher, John Senex illustrates the lack of certainty European explorers had on the reality of the African geography. Much of the information shown in this map was received through 2nd and 3rd hand accounts, which lead to a less than perfect visualization continent. Perhaps one of the more interesting elements on this work is the dedication to Sir Isaac Newton in the lower right hand corner.
This map would make a great addition to the home or office of any history lover or world-traveller.
